The search for Wayne Messam’s campaign for president website
Pop quiz: Can anyone identify the black bald candidate for president who isn’t Cory Booker? If you can, you are likely a resident of Miramar, FL, the town which Wayne Messam is mayor of (not to be confused with Miramar Naval Air Station, the setting for the movie Top Gun in Southern California).
Quiz #2:
Can you name the other 2 current Mayors running for president?
Pete Buttigieg, South Bend, IN
Bill de Blasio, New York, NY
How about the 3 former mayors?
Cory Booker, former mayor of Newark
Julián Castro, former mayor of San Antonio
John Hickenlooper, former mayor of Denver
.
As I discussed in the previous post, while Wayne Messam does have a presence on the internet (via various social media and news outlets), he has invested very little in search engine optimization (SEO) leaving his actual campaign website almost completely unfindable.
Googling “Wayne Messam“, “Wayne Messam for President“, “Wayne Messam for President website” all did not turn up his campaign website. It did turn up his “Wayne Messam 2020 presidential campaign” Wikipedia page, which did (finally!) have a link to his official website, WayneForAmerica.com… whiiich is a broken link.
This site can’t be reached http://www.wayneforamerica.com took too long to respond.

Oddly, the generated broken link page gives you the option to “Search Google for wayne america.” I can’t possibly do any worse than I have so far, so went further down the rabbit hole. What came up was a comical array of bizarre and unrelated items… all of them not Wayne Messam, the man running for President.
First, you scroll past a link for Wayne America, a lawn care company who clearly has invested in SEO. Next is a link to the Facebook page for the city of Wayne, Nebraska. Next, some American flags. Links to “other cities in Nebraska” (wait, Lincoln is the capital of Nebraska??). After spending 15 minutes listening to samples from a CD of John Wayne saying inspirational things about America, I had to remind myself what I was doing in the first place.
My last good lead was the broken link WayneForAmerica.com so I googled “Wayne for America” and finally found it. Well eventually. First I had to scroll past Wayne America Lawn Care again, but there, about halfway down the page, I found WayneForUSA.com… it initially looked promising until I saw “No information is available for this page“:
Nevertheless, this was my best lead yet, so I held my breath and clicked on it… spinning, spinning… It worked!! Ladies and gentlemen, I present you the very poorly named and even worse indexed campaign website for Wayne Messam, WayneForUSA.com
