Time change
Regarding the time change last weekend – as much as I hate to lose an hour of sleep, I *really* like the fact that I can leave the office at a reasonable hour and still get home with enough time to enjoy some sunlight… or if I leave the office at my normal hour, it is still light out. There is something very depressing about one’s existence when it is dark you get into work in the morning and dark when you leave in the evening.
Salim vs His Freezer

Before the defrosting process
My freezer this morning, after picking out all of the ice
Well, I accomplished the *long* overdue task of defrosting my freezer. This was for two primary reasons – first, the amount of usable space in my freezer was absurdly low compared to what it should have been and second, because I wanted to eat a frozen pizza that had so much ice grown up around it that the pizza had become part of the freezer itself.
It was done in stages, I would turn off the fridge overnight and then empty the water that collected in the tray below the freezer, then turned it back on so as not to get too warm and ruin the food contained therein. I repeated this about 3 times and the fourth (last night) finally loosened the grip of the ice enough so that I could pick it out.
To celebrate, I ate that pizza.

In addition to a few dirty dishes, I managed to fill the entire sink with ice formerly caked to my freezer walls
Mr. Crusher, engage
A week and a half back, on October 12 at exactly 7:52 pm (don’t ask!), amid much festivities, I got engaged to Mumtaz Bandukwala in Toronto. Although I am leaning towards the former right now, time will tell if this was the best or worst decision of my life! 😉
Also realize – even though Mumtaz is Canadian, she’s still cool.
Road Trip
About a month back I got back from an extended driving trip on the East Coast and in the South. Here are some pics and a "brief" chronicling of my trip.
Bali
Having just quit my job 4 days prior, I found myself in India for a short time before the whole lot of us (Pappaji Esoofi and Mammaji Sofa and all their kids and all grand kids (minus one), 20 of us) shipped out to Bali for a week. Here we proceeded to have one of the best vacations that I have ever been on. What a way to kick off unemployment!
I quit!
Not that this is as cool as flying B-1 bombers, I just gave notice at my company and will be unemployed in 3 weeks!
B1 Pilot
And now we once again turn our attention to people who lives are more interesting than our own…
On February 9, 2001, the junior Tyabji, Abizer, has just been selected to pilot the B-1 Bomber (info, movie (11.6MB), pictures 1, pictures 2). He will be stationed at Dyess Air Force Base, home of the 7th Bomb Wing, near Abilene, TX.
He continues to live every guys’ dream of driving expensive vehicles, really fast and using it to blow stuff up.
I blow stuff up

I want to give a big congratulations to my brother Abizer who is in the Air Force. Today he made it into the track for fighter planes and will soon live every guys’ dream of flying fast planes and blowing stuff up!
